چکیده
scores at high levels of adaptive functioning will have poorer precision (i.e., higher SEMs) than those at low levels. SUMMARY. The Vineland–II was designed to be an easily used, standardized measure of key domains of adaptive behavior–Communication, Daily Living Skills, and Socialization–that play a prominent role in the diagnosis of mental retardation and other developmental disabilities. The instrument clearly meets its goals of ease of use, clear procedures for the calculation of both raw and scaled scores, and clear and comprehensive information regarding its reliability and validity. The Vineland–II deserves to be considered among the best measures of adaptive behavior currently available, and the use of this instrument for making high-stakes decisions regarding individuals is recommended.

Investigation of the factor structure of the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale--Fourth Edition (WAIS-IV): exploratory and higher order factor analyses.
The present study examined the factor structure of the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale--Fourth Edition (WAIS-IV; D. Wechsler, 2008a) standardization sample using exploratory factor analysis, multiple factor extraction criteria, and higher order exploratory factor analysis (J. Schmid & J. M. Leiman, 1957) not included in the WAIS-IV Technical and Interpretation Manual (D. Wechsler, 2008b). Res...
متن کاملMatters of Consequence: An Empirical Investigation of the WAIS-III and WAIS-IV and Implications for Addressing the Atkins Intelligence Criterion
“Which test provides the better measurement of intelligence, the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale-Third Edition (WAIS-III) or the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale-Fourth Edition (WAIS-IV)?” is an important question to professional psychologists; however, it has become a critical issue in Atkins cases wherein courts are often presented with divergent Full-Scale IQ (FSIQ) scores on the WAIS-III...
متن کاملExploratory and Higher-Order Factor Analyses of the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale-Fourth Edition (WAIS-IV) Adolescent Subsample
The factor structure of the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale–Fourth Edition (WAISIV; Wechsler, 2008a) with the adolescent participants (ages 16–19 years; N 400) in the standardization sample was assessed using exploratory factor analysis, multiple factor extraction criteria, and higher-order exploratory factor analyses. Results from exploratory factor analyses were not included in the WAIS-IV ...
متن کاملDo the WAIS-IV Tests Measure the Same Aspects of Cognitive Functioning in Adults Under and Over 65?
One of the important questions that needs to be considered when evaluating cognitive functioning in older adults is whether the scores on the tests have the same meaning as they do in young and middle-aged adults. While it is generally agreed that crystallized intelligence (Gc) measures such as those derived from vocabulary subtests tend to ‘‘hold’’ well with age, barring neurological complicat...
متن کاملConfirmatory factor analysis of the WAIS-IV/WMS-IV.
The Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale-fourth edition (WAIS-IV) and the Wechsler Memory Scale-fourth edition (WMS-IV) were co-developed to be used individually or as a combined battery of tests. The independent factor structure of each of the tests has been identified; however, the combined factor structure has yet to be determined. Confirmatory factor analysis was applied to the WAIS-IV/WMS-IV ...
